You may have heard this before but Self-Care is not selfish. Taking care of yourself is your number one priority and sometimes it's hard to understand and to take action on taking care of yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally. We as a society tend to focus on physically care more than emotional and mental care but they are three equally important. If you aren't taking care of yourself mentally and emotionally, then it's going to an impact on your health. You may not think so but if you're so busy taking care of other people and not thinking of yourself, it's going to take a toll on your own life.
Taking care of yourself emotionally, mentally, and physically can help you in so many ways and I have learned in my recovery with Depression and Anxiety, it can help so much. It can be little things as taking a shower, making your bed, calling a friend, doing the laundry and other things that impact your life. If you don't take care of yourself, then you can't take care of others. It's that simple. We as a society need to focus on all three because they all matter and can help us become better intune with our emotions, how we feel, how we process things, and help us focus on what is important.
Self Care is not selfish. You can't serve on an empty vessel, you need to refill your cup before you can help others. Not taking care of yourself can lead to many health problems and impact all three areas of mental, emotional, and physical health. Taking time for yourself should be a part of everyday life, we all lead different lives but one thing we should all do is practice self-care everyday and you will see the benefits that will follow.
