So what is Anxiety? You might think it's a stupid question but for millions of people, it's something that haunts them day and night. They will wake up with thoughts that won't even happen but they aren't able to shut their minds off. Let me explain something first. Anxiety is a normal feeling, everyone feels it but you might be asking for yourself why is worse for some people? Our brains are different and people are wired differently. Anxiety is a normal fear for everyone but it affects people in different ways. Anxiety can manifest in the person's mind and causes the person to believe that situations are worse than they already are or it will make up things that won't even happen.
For a person with Anxiety, you can't just tell them to chill, calm down, or stop worrying about things. That will in turn make things worse and that also makes it hard for the individual suffering from Anxiety to speak out and try and get help. The stigma that is associated with Mental Illness affects millions of people and for those who haven't experienced it don't know what it feels like. So what does Anxiety feel like?
Anxiety is like your mind is on fire. The thoughts start roaming and once they start, it's as though you can't turn them off. It's rough and hard to deal with but you can cope with it. Seek out help, talk to your parents, doctor, or friends and know that you aren't alone. There are different types of techniques that can help you along the way to recovery but just know that it will be a process. What might work for you may not work for someone else. Be patient and know that things will take time.
Don't rush your recovery because that will have consequences and you can't rush things like this. As someone who has been diagnosed with an Anxiety Disorder, I can tell you that it wasn't an easy process but I am now in recovery and taking things one day at a time. I use different techniques and other things to make my life more productive and healthier. Take that step towards recovery and you will be making the best choice you could ever make. It's not weak to reach out, it's a sign of strength.
